The purpose of the collisions laboratory is to allow students the ability to experiment with and understand the concepts of forces, rolling friction, acceleration, and collisions and their effect on the motion of objects under controlled conditions. Experiments performed in the collisions laboratory will involve the collision of multiple balls with elastic or inelastic collisions. The laboratory allows complete control of nearly all parameters defining the experiments including forces, gravity, friction, mass, size, and direction. The difficulty level of these experiments ranges from basic to sophisticated, depending on the level of the class and the purpose for performing the experiments.
