The purpose of the ramp motion laboratory is to allow students the ability to experiment with and understand the concepts of forces, frictions, and acceleration and their effect on the motion of objects under controlled conditions. A partial list of the experiments performed in the ramp motion laboratory include motion on a ramp in uniform or radial gravity. The laboratory allows complete control of nearly all parameters defining the experiments including forces, gravity, frictions, mass, size, and direction. The difficulty level of these experiments ranges from basic to sophisticated, depending on the level of the class and the purpose for performing the experiments.
