Welcome to Virtual ChemLab: Organic Qualitative Analysis, a realistic and complete simulation of organic qualitative analysis. In this virtual laboratory, students are free to make the choices and decisions that they would confront in an actual qualitative analysis experiment and, in turn, experience the resulting consequences.

The purpose of the qualitative analysis laboratory is to help students build proficiency in determining the structure of unknown organic compounds containing a variety of functional groups. The spectroscopic and chemical tools available to the student include 1H and 13C NMR, FTIR, Mass Spectrometry (MS), thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and a set of 15 functional group tests with actual video depicting the results of the tests. The simulation contains a small set of known compounds for practice, a set of over 300 different qualitative analysis unknowns, and a spectra library with over 700 spectra for each available spectroscopic technique.
