Many of the instruments used in the simulation have LCDs (Liquid Crystal Display) that are used to display the parameters of these instruments. Controllers of these displays are done in the Live Data tab of the tray. These controllers can be divided into two types: (1) Intensity Controllers and (2) Setting Controllers.

Intensity Controllers. The super light bulb, electron gun, and laser sources all have controllers that allow the intensity of the output to be set. The intensities of these sources cannot be continuously adjusted, but are restricted to certain allowed values. Shown to the right is the intensity controller for the laser. The intensity controllers for the electron gun and super light bulb are similar except with their own set of allowed intensities. The LCD screen is used to display the current intensity. In the Live Data tab, clicking the button above the controller advances to the next highest intensity, and clicking the button below the controller advances to the next lowest intensity.

Setting Controllers. The electron gun, laser, two slit device, magnetic field, electric field, and heater all use controllers to adjust the specific settings for these devices. The setting that is actually set on these devices using the controller is unique to each device, but the use and operation of a setting controller is uniform for all devices. As an example, the setting controller for the electric field modifier is shown in the accompanying illustration. The key areas on the controller are the display and the buttons above and below the display. Shown on the LCD screen and Live Data display, from left to right, is (a) the sign of the setting (only present if the setting can be positive or negative), (b) the three-digit number representing the setting, (c) the decimal place, and (d) the units and scaling factor. The sign of the setting (if present) can be changed by clicking on the + or - sign, and the decimal place can be moved by clicking on the location between the digits where the decimal should be placed and typing a . in that location. Each of the digits of the setting can be changed by clicking the button above or below the digit, and the scaling factor is changed by clicking the button above or below the units.
