Beyond Labz System Requirements

*Note - our web-based labs are NOT compatible with smartphones. A tablet or computer is required.
Bandwidth requirements:
Beyond Labz will work best with internet speeds 5 MB/s or faster. Our labs can technically work on lower bandwidths, but the experience may be poor at first.

Desktop versions:
We recommend using Safari, Chrome, or Edge to access the desktop labs.
Please note that you cannot use Opera browsers to run the Beyond Labz Portal.
Other browsers have experienced issues accessing our website or communicating with our connect app, so if your browser doesn't work as you expect, try one of the three listed above.
MacOS:
MacOS Yosemite or later

Will not work reliably if you are using a Beta OS release, please use a production general release MacOS. We highly recommend being up to date on the most recent public MacOS
Windows:
Windows 8.0 or later (needs to be 64 bit)

Note that the Labz will not run on a Snapdragon/ARM processor as they are 32 bit. There is unfortunately no workaround to get Snapdragon processors to run 64 bit programs. Our labs are not compatible with 32 bit systems. We highly recommend being up to date on the most recent public version of Windows.
Windows Installation Notes:
Installing Beyond Labz requires that you have administrator privileges/permission for your computer to be able to install a program. Once it is installed, you don't need to be logged in as the administrator.
Your computer needs to be running a 64bit operating system ("OS"). If your computer was purchased after 2010, it should support a 64bit OS (Windows 8.0 for example).
Please update your computer- make sure you have all system updates installed.
MS Surface machines with Qualcomm processors and Galaxy Books will not be able to run Beyond Labz.
Chromebooks:
Our browser-based labs will work on any device with an internet connection, chromebooks included. Currently our browser-based labs are the labs in the Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biology Suites.
Four of our Physics modules are available as browser based labs- Density, Calorimetry, Quantum and Gases.
If you need Mechanics, Optics or Circuits, you will need to borrow a windows or mac computer to be able to access the Desktop downloaded versions of those labs.
